WISSOTA promoters approve following
amendments to rules for the 2009 season
HIBBING. MN - Based on the results of voting by promoters at the 2008 WISSOTA annual meeting, the following amendments are being made to the WISSOTA rule book and all rules outlined will apply during the 2009 racing season.
MULTI CLASS
HELMETS: Snell SA 2000 rated helmet or SFI 31.1/2005 rated helmets allowed. For the 2010 season, all helmets must be Snell SA 2005 rated or SFI 31.1/2005 rated.
No Snell KA or M rated helmets are allowed. The KA designation is for Kart Racing and the M designation is for Motorcycles. Neither is approved as safe for Motorsports applications and no driver will be allowed to use KA or M rated helmets.
WISSOTA LATE MODELS
1. Steel heads will continue to be allowed in 2009. (This will be voted upon annually).
2. Rear roof post/sail panel can have a maximum 2" bow outward measured from top to bottom.
WISSOTA MODIFIEDS
1. Rear roof post/sail panel can have a maximum 2" bow outward measured from top to bottom.
WISSOTA SUPER STOCKS
1. Minimum weight will remain at 2800 lbs.
2. Dart SS cylinder head 10024361 is allowed. Must have 1.94 intake, exhaust 1.50. Head may be purchased through any Dart dealer.
3. Rear roof post/sail panel can have a maximum 2" bow outward measured from top to bottom.
4. The maximum length of the nose piece from spindle to tip of nose is 52”.
5. Stamped steel rocker arms may have oil hole deburred.
WISSOTA MIDWEST MODS
1. Rear roof post/sail panel can have a maximum 2" bow outward measured from top to bottom.
2. Stamped steel rocker arms may have oil hole deburred.
3. Drive train and transmission rule has been amended to the following:
DRIVE TRAIN, STARTERS, TRANSMISSIONS, BRAKES AND EXHAUST
A. Transmissions
1. OEM Automatic transmission only. All components must be replaceable by OEM components and in stock location. Torque converter must be a steel case functional torque converter with all elements with a minimum of 10-3/16" outside diameter. Converter must have a 1/8" drain plug on outside of converter. Converter temperature and fluid volume may be measured to ensure compliance. Converter must be as warm or warmer than transmission. Converter when drained must measure a volume no less than three quarts. Cooler lines must be blocked off before draining converter for measurement. Addition of material to increase stock converter diameter is illegal. All transmissions must have an operating forward, neutral, park and reverse. All transmissions must be able to stop and idle in gear. A functioning shifter must work and be in stock location. No lock-up type converters allowed. Automatic transmission is not allowed to have any wires, cables, or attachments other than shifting linkage and hydraulic fluid lines installed for cooler.
2. Intermarriage of transmissions is allowed (example: Ford or Chrysler engines may use Chevrolet power glide transmission).
3. All transmissions must have an approved scatter shield, which must be constructed of 1/8" steel by 4" 270 degrees around flex plate and torque converter. Four inch aftermarket SFI approved shield recommended. Aftermarket replacement bell housings are allowed and an additional scatter shield is not required with this bell housing only. Flywheel/flex plate/ring gear must be full center flywheel. No spoked, cut or altered flywheels allowed. No lightweight flywheels allowed.
4. Transmission coolers are allowed but cooler and connecting lines must be shielded from driver.
5. Drive shaft hoop is required and must be constructed of at least 1/4" X 2" steel and must be mounted no closer than 5" or further than 9" back from the center of the front U-joint. Drive shaft must be a minimum of 2" diameter, steel and painted white. All drive shafts must meet a minimum specification of 2" outside diameter and must be of conventional slip yoke design.
WISSOTA STREET STOCKS
1. Tubular upper A arms are allowed. They must be steel, must have stock or stock replacement cross shaft, and stock or stock replacement 4-bolt ball joints. No heim joints.
2. Stock front bumper or plastic bumper cover. Back stock rear bumper outside of frame to outside of frame or plastic bumper covers. Bumper covers must be produced by a recognized manufacturer, not home made.
3. Rocker arms may have oil hole deburred.
4. A sun visor is allowed but can be no greater than 6" of material. It may run from front window post to front window post.

WISSOTA MOD FOURS
1. Adjustable steel shims are allowed on front springs.
2. Tubular steel strut arms are allowed. They must be non-adjustable and must maintain stock ends.
3. Rear roof post/sail panel can have a maximum 2" bow outward measured from top to bottom.
4. The maximum window opening is 20”.
5. The maximum door height is 30", including any plastic components.
6. A sun visor is allowed but can be no greater than 6" of material. It may run from front window post to front window post.
7. Sail panels must match roof line at top but can be up to 6" tall above the rear deck at the back of the deck, and can be built at a 45 degree angle away from rear deck end. The spoiler can be no greater than 2" in length.
8. A residual pressure valve is allowed in brake system, and it may be made of aluminum.
9. Brake and hub assemblies must be the same on left and right front wheels. All calipers must work when braking.
10. Siping and grooving of tires is allowed.
11. The minimum weight of any wheel used must be 12 lbs.
12. The rear end gears may be locked by welding or mini spool. No full spool allowed.
